Social Media Manager
If you’re a creative superstar and are interested in working with inspiring travel brands, developing your career and would enjoy working at an innovative and growing company then we want to hear from you.

The Important Stuff
About The Role...
Picture this:
You start work every morning smiling and excited for what’s ahead. You choose what time you start and what you’ll work on. You go home (or move into the next room at home) feeling fulfilled and like you’re making a difference as part of a team that truly values your input.
That’s what we aim for every day at north9.
You’ll be charged with running social media channels for clients and our own brands and building relationships with third parties to increase visibility and engagement.
This might be creating content for a Moroccan tour operator, striving for social search success for a boutique hotel we’re working with or researching influencers who can collaborate on projects.
If you’ve got additional skills like podcasting, community building or PR then these could all play into the work you do with us.
We’re more than a marketing agency. We’re a group of highly skilled people looking to maximise those skills and help everyone in the team grow and develop. We spend a lot of our time helping clients get more visible and make more sales, but we also work on our own internal projects to stretch our creative muscles and create alternative revenue streams.
You’ll be trusted with freedom and given the responsibility to perform to the best of your ability. But you’ll also be given support whenever needed to help guide you on the path you want to go down and keep developing your craft.
We give all the profit we make to educational charities, so the work you do makes a real difference. The better the work we do together, the more impact we can make for people who really need that support.
We’re entering an exciting period of growth where we want to invest in the team and the business, and we can’t wait to get like-minded people on board to drive that journey forward.
If that’s the kind of environment that floats your boat then read on…
What We’re Looking For
You know a bit about us – here’s what we’d be looking for from you. Don’t take this as a box ticking exercise where you need to fit everything, rather a guide on the things we’d love to have which we can use as a foundation to build on together 🙂
- You live and breathe social platforms; Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and whatever comes next. You know the nuances of each and how to tailor content to fit.
- An eye for aesthetics. You can shoot, edit, and produce high-quality short-form video and graphics that look and sound beautiful.
- A strategic thinker. You don’t just post for the sake of it. You understand how social fits into a wider digital marketing funnel and can plan campaigns that achieve specific goals.
- Enthusiasm for data. You’re comfortable diving into insights to understand what worked, what didn’t, and most importantly, why.
- An understanding of social search and how social platforms are now search engines and act as discovery platforms for travellers.
- Unbridled creativity – you’re a natural ideator who can take a dry brief and turn it into a viral concept or a deeply engaging thread.
- You have empathy for others and can put yourself in the shoes of your audience to foster genuine two-way conversations.
- Excitement to experiment with AI tools to improve creative workflows and make social distribution more effective.
- Exceptional communication skills to engage with clients and internally.
- A team player who is prepared to dig in and do the difficult things well and support other areas of the business when needed.
- Be open to new ideas and comfortable in a rapidly changing environment and industry.
- A passion for marketing.
- Project management and planning skills that ensure things happen when and where needed, with the ability to prioritise appropriately.
- The drive to achieve results beyond the ordinary.
- A problem-solver who can think outside the box.
- Extreme attention to detial. 😉
- Good time management and the ability to communicate clearly.
- A self-starter who can get things done in a small team.
- We really value side projects – if you have any examples of these (or your own content) share them in your application.
- A desire to learn. This is non-negotiable for us. Every member of the team is always pushing to improve us as a whole and on an individual basis.
What It's Like
In the same way that we value long relationships with clients, we also want our team to love being a part of what we’re doing and be in it for the long haul. Here are some reasons we believe we’re a great place to work and you’ll want to do just that:
- Flexible working. You decide your hours and we have a combination of working from home and in the office which the team works out together.
- Autonomy. You’re in charge of what you do and when you do it (within the business needs of course!).
- Input in all company decisions. We’re not a top-down organisation, everyone (who wants to) gets involved when we’re discussing big company stuff.
- Everything you need to work safely at home. Mac, budget for a comfortable home working environment etc.
- Balance. We want to create great things and do amazing work, but we also want everyone to live great lives too.
- 25 days holiday + your birthday off.
- Wonderful Wednesdays – one Wednesday/month off to explore a new skill or hobby.
- The opportunity to work one month abroad each year.
- 4 volunteer days/year.
- Company health (medical, dental) insurance plans after 3 months of full-time employment.
- Annual bonus based on company performance.
We assess people on their skills and fit for the team, not just CV and experience, so we’d love to get applications from anyone who believes they fit the bill from the details above. You might be a marketing superstar fresh from uni or have been doing a job totally unrelated to marketing but experimenting in your own time. Either of those people could be right for this role if they’re the best fit for the team and can show they do great work.
You will be expected to:
- Hit the ground running.
- Dive into client work immediately.
- Experiment with rapidly changing technology like AI.
- Help the team develop and improve.
- Regularly report on successes and challenges and adapt accordingly.
- Work independently and stick to deadlines.
- Demonstrate a desire to learn continuously.
We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
