Rainforest Cruises
Here’s a story about how we helped market leaders Rainforest Cruises to increase their organic traffic by 326%, curate 150+ high-quality links, and secured over 40 pieces of coverage in global publications.

Who are Rainforest Cruises?
Rainforest Cruises are market leaders in the emerging archipelago and river cruise destinations across both South America and Southeast Asia. The company offers an extensive collection of luxury riverboats and expedition cruise ships, offering tours in the Galápagos and along the length of the mighty Amazon, Irrawaddy, and Mekong rivers.
Their Challenge?
Rainforest Cruises first approached us for support in building their link profile to support their SEO efforts. They’d been stung by SEO companies in the past and wanted a specialist in the industry to help them. The focus needed to be on quality, not quantity, and an approach that was built around driving forward performance in a sustainable way.
After various discussions together to understand the history of the site and the business, we also highlighted the benefits of PR both from an SEO and brand perspective, so that became a key part of the strategy to drive the site forwards.

How Did We Help?
The SEO strategy initially focused on acquiring new links to the site from high-quality places. Part of this was through our expertise in the travel space and the existing relationships we had, and we paired that with a more creative approach throughout PR work.
This drove some good improvements, but it became apparent over time that there was an opportunity for further gains by focusing on the technical aspects of the website and the on-page optimisation.
We worked closely with the Rainforest team through a new website build to guide the strategy and structure of the new site and ensure it launched in as optimised a place as possible. We also helped navigate the usual challenges and pitfalls of a new website so the launch brought improvements rather than nightmares.
Since launch, the site has flourished and we have a great foundation to build on from an SEO perspective.
For PR, we focused on cementing Rainforest Cruises as a market leader within their industry through a reactive PR approach. Offering expert insight from the founder into both the cruise and wider travel industry, we were able to achieve several high-quality pieces of coverage including the New York Times and Washington Post.
We also outreached regular press releases to journalists with news and updates from the company such as the launch of the world’s longest river cruise, which in turn secured coverage in the likes of Forbes.
All this is made possible by the improvements done throughout our search engine optimisation strategy.
From The Client:
Tom and his amiable and talented colleagues have been the hidden superheroes to our record sales this past year. From their guidance and technical expertise helping us successfully migrate and redesign our new website, to the phenomenal coverage secured in our wish-list of top-tier travel publications, they have exceeded all expectations. The biggest plus is that they are a joy to work with, often going out of their way to make things happen. I don’t know of any other SEO companies who are so open with their methodologies and so willing give away their nuggets of expertise.
Their honest approach, combined with the quality and transparency of their work is a cut above many of the more expensive companies we’ve used in the past. The results speak for themselves; the value provided—not just in terms of return on investment, but also in terms of the knowledge and know-how imparted—is quite frankly remarkable. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend north9 to any OTA or tour operator seeking to improve their rankings, brand awareness or sales.
